MBQ is a portrait of the comic book artist as a young man in LA. At its core, the story follows a young man's efforts to realize his artistic dream. Omario, the main character, represents the struggle of most artists to earn recognition, monetary compensation, but most importantly, the chance to do what they most passionately yearn for; making a living with their calling. Omario refuses to draw what most editors want to see; he wants to do something different. This and his talent for getting caught in compromising situations make his journey a tough one. His neighborhood is alive with quirky characters and local color, and at the center of this pulsating community is the local burger joint, MBQ ... which is exactly where Omario is going to be working if he doesn't start making some money drawing comics.

This Volume's Story:
Big "Bro" Brodie is the biggest, meanest, ugliest fighter in the business and he ain't none too happy about his little brother Ritchie getting a beat down by Dee, who is already trying his damndest to move a shipment of hot electronics through his West LA apartment. Across town, Omario has finished his comic submission and presents it with considerable pomp & circumstance to Jeff, who is too nice to say what he thinks about the work...he is also too nice to remind Omario about the rent.
